Girls group info here!
Being a teenager, especially in today’s world, comes with a multitude of unique challenges and stressors that take a toll on teen’s mental health and require special understanding and support. This group is provided weekly as a safe and non-judgmental place for your teenager to express themselves, any struggles they may have or everyday life stressors. Each session will also concentrate on a specific skill and how to apply that skill outside of the group when they are faced with a challenge – whether that is at school, home, among peers or any other setting. These skills will be pulled from multiple different modalities, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), where they will be introduced to practical coping skills to improve their ability to focus their attention, manage feelings, deal with life stressors and get along better with others. This group will foster a place where teens can discover their own values, beliefs and self-identity, as well as a place to learn from their peers struggling with similar issues.
The group will be ongoing and there is no requirement as to how many they have to attend. They will not have had to attend the previous session to learn and apply the new skill being presented that week.
Interested participants will meet for one individual session with group leader, Miranda Minasian, MC, LPC, to assess if the group is an appropriate fit for the teen. The group will be ongoing and there is no requirement as to how any sessions they need to attend. Participants will not have had to attend previous session to learn and apply the new skill being presented that week.
