I became a therapist because I believe in every person’s ability to heal and am committed to providing hope for all ages. I have been providing counseling services in the Denver area since 2016, when I moved here from Arizona. Prior to joining Greenwood Counseling Center, I worked as a community therapist where I provided in-home intensive treatment and case management for high-risk children and families. I have also provided crisis response for Victim Witness Services in Flagstaff, AZ. It was through this work I realized my passion to pursue a career in supporting those healing from trauma.
Throughout my clinical experience working with trauma and complex trauma, I have always been eager to learn more effective ways to treat the symptoms that follow trauma. This is how I discovered my love for both EMDR therapy and the LENS Neurofeedback system, both of which tend to be my primary areas of focus for all ages.
I have made it a priority in my career to continue to grow as an EMDR therapist and am an EMDRIA Approved, facilitating consultation groups at EMDRIA Approved Basic Trainings, and providing consultation to clinicians who are working toward their EMDR Certification. My areas of specialties include trauma and complex trauma, attachment, depression, anxiety, and everyday life stressors.
The thing I admire most about EMDR therapy is the ability to integrate various modalities into treatment. Some of these include play therapy, sand tray therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), supportive reflection and family therapy. Working with children and adolescents, I have learned to value creativity and especially, spontaneity! Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I am always seeking ways to personalize each session to what best suits each one of my clients and their treatment goals. Most importantly, I find ways to encompass what the client enjoys, as well as their strengths and values into therapy to help foster confidence, happiness, exploration of who they are and to inspire them to follow their hopes and dreams – whatever they may be.
I provide a safe, relatable and genuine approach to providing care to my clients. I truly love the therapeutic process, witnessing the positive change in my clients and helping them see how much they matter! The truth is, I learn the most from every client that walks through my door and hearing their story. The resilience of my clients never ceases to amaze me.
A Little About Me:
I grew up in Boise, Idaho. Even at a young age, growing up in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains instilled in me an appreciation for mountains, white water rafting, and other outdoor recreation. Some of my family had moved to Colorado and in order to be closer to them, I decided to also relocate to Denver. I love Denver because I get the best of both worlds – the city and the mountains. I am minutes away from some of the most important people in my life, including my nephew, who I adore! For fun I love to watch sports, work on puzzles, read various books and research, as well as enjoy the company of my family.
